Zonta Club of Hsinchu and Z clubs unite for art collaboration
On 22 August, the Zonta Club of Hsinchu, Taiwan, hosted its second collective art creation event, “Dancing with Zentangle Together,” bringing together members from the Zonta Clubs of Taipei II, Taipei III, Miaoli and the Hsinchu Z Club.
The activity centered on intergenerational and interclub collaboration, with Hsinchu Z Club members leading the project alongside senior Zontians. Together, participants created five large canvases representing the letters Z-O-N-T-A, each infused with themes such as “Yellow Rose,” “Speak Up for Her,” “Support” and “Say NO to Violence.”
In preparation, Hsinchu Z Club students assembled 20 small canvases into five larger ones and outlined bold letters on each. Using Zentangle techniques, the students guided their groups to transform the outlines into meaningful artworks that reflected Zonta’s advocacy and legacy.
The event also featured a Zentangle sharing session by Taipei III Club President Meng-Lin Chao and a talk by Dr. Yi-Hsien Lin, an oncologist at Cheng Hsin General Hospital, who discussed the clinical applications of art therapy. Attendees described the afternoon as healing, joyful and inspiring, noting that the activity strengthened club spirit, visibility and unity.
“Art allows me to truly be myself,” one participant said, while another remarked, “This creative activity really enhanced our club’s spirit and visibility.”
Zonta Club of Hsinchu President I-Ting Lin said the highlight was the intergenerational and interclub collaboration, using art as a medium to express both advocacy and the spirit of legacy.
The event marked another milestone in the club’s creative initiatives, following its “Zonta: Unlimited Possibilities” film screenings and art series. Next, the Hsinchu club will join six other clubs in a joint exhibition in October under the same theme.
