Zonta Club of Hilo gives US$20,000 in scholarships and awards for women

The Zonta Club of Hilo, HI, USA, has awarded US$20,000 in scholarships to 10 women pursuing academic and leadership excellence in 2025, as part of the club’s continued commitment to building a better world for women and girls.

The club is celebrating 75 years of making a difference on Hawai‘i Island and is thrilled to support these inspiring women in their educational journeys.

Recipients of the Barbra An Pleadwell Scholarship are Laura Mendoza and Kennedy Moniz, who each received US$2,500.

The Women’s Nursing Degree Scholarships were awarded to four recipients: Chantel Molina and Erin Standage from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, and Leimomi Ahina and Franziska Bass from Hawai‘i Community College. Each received US$2,000.

Fiona Eddy and Lehani Coloma received the Young Woman in Leadership Award, with Eddy awarded US$2,000 and Coloma receiving US$1,000.

Jade Yamada received the US$2,000 Women in Business Leadership Award, and Danielle Bartz received the US$2,000 Women in STEM Award.

Eddy, Yamada and Bartz have also been advanced to compete for additional scholarships and recognition at the Zonta district and international levels.
