Zonta Club of Makati Paseo de Roxas expands health and community outreach

The Zonta Club of Makati Paseo de Roxas, Philippines, continues to strengthen its commitment to women’s health and community welfare through a series of impactful outreach programs held throughout the year.

On 5 June, the club led a major medical mission at Doña Josefa Jara Martinez National High School, in partnership with ThyroMobile, Zonta Club of Metro Ortigas, Salinas Salt Technology Company, Barkadahan ni Sto. Domingo, Brgy. Tatalon LGU and the host school. The initiative focused on providing thyroid screenings and health education for women, particularly lactating mothers, in areas identified by the Department of Health as having high rates of thyroid disease.

Participants received free thyroid check-ups and educational talks from Dr. Teofilo San Luis and Dr. Antonio U. Quirino on thyroid self-checks, iodine nutrition and oral hygiene. Zonta volunteers assisted throughout the event, which also provided lunch to 60 attendees.

Earlier in the year, on 4 January, the club held its 30th annual outreach for families in Brgy. Lapo-lapo I, San Jose, Batangas. In partnership with the Bob and Emmy Garon Family Foundation and Golden Values School, they distributed toys to children and food packs to parents. The same day, they launched their first initiative specifically for senior women, who also received food assistance.

A few days later, the club extended support to victims of Typhoon Kristine, delivering aid to over 100 families and 49 children in Brgys. Lumampao and Longos, the latter a long-term beneficiary community supported for two decades.

These sustained efforts underscore Zonta Makati Paseo de Roxas’ dedication to uplifting women and families through health services, disaster response and community empowerment.
