District 20 Zontians start science club for girls

As a result of a campaign in Finland and Estonia, District 20 Zontians have created the ZAU Science Clubs, aimed mainly to encourage girls to explore science.

The campaign is also to honor the 100th anniversary of Zonta International. By the end of October 2019, District 20 clubs would have donated an equivalent of $155,000 to establishing these clubs in various parts of the district.

The clubs are in collaboration with the LUMA Centre Finland and also a network of science and technology universities. The abbreviation ‘ZAU’ comes from the Finnish words meaning ‘Zonta gives courage.’

At the initiative the LUMA Centre of Finland commissioned a presentation video  made by Mikko Tirkkonen of MAT Future Vision on the ZAU Science Club in a small local school in the middle of the wilderness.

The video was made in both Finnish and English with the goal of spreading the message from both the Zonta organization and the ZAU Science Clubs as widely as possible. Watch the video here.
