District 25 Area 2 holds inspiring first Area Meeting for the 2024-2026 Biennium
The first Area Meeting of District 25 for the 2024-2026 Biennium unfolded with great enthusiasm in the heart of Kathmandu, a city rich in culture and tradition. Hosted with warmth and grace by the esteemed Madam Area Director, Meera Jyoti, and meticulously convened by the dedicated Seema Golcha, the gathering was a testament to Zonta’s unwavering commitment to advancing women’s empowerment.
Upon arrival, the distinguished Governor of District 25, Dr. Zareen Delawar, was welcomed with a splendid reception, thoughtfully arranged by Meera Jyoti in her honor. The gathering was graced by the presence of approximately 23 Zontians from Bangladesh, including club presidents who passionately presented their advocacy and service projects—each initiative a shining beacon of hope, perfectly aligned with Zonta’s mission and goals.
Governor Dr. Zareen Delawar, in her keen observations, delivered a deeply inspiring address that resonated with every attendee. She took a moment to recognize and celebrate the outstanding efforts of three clubs whose exceptional work had transcended boundaries. These clubs had stepped beyond their comfort zones, tirelessly striving to uplift women and young girls, embodying the very essence of Zonta’s vision. In a heartening display of encouragement, the governor awarded these clubs for their remarkable contributions, acknowledging their dedication to creating a tangible impact.
Her visit to various projects left a profound impression, as she was moved by the forward-thinking approach embraced by the Zontians. Their dedication to following the future trends of women’s empowerment was both commendable and inspiring. The governor also had the pleasure of meeting the members of the newly formed Zonta Club of Kashtamandab, engaging in meaningful discussions on how best to integrate and align their initiatives with the broader Zonta network, ensuring a cohesive and impactful approach to service and advocacy.
The Area Meeting was further enriched by two remarkable guest speakers, each sharing powerful narratives of resilience and empowerment. One, a passionate advocate, spoke of her work in maintaining a safe house for survivors of sexual violence, providing them with refuge and the strength to rebuild their lives. The other shed light on the transformative journey of women venturing into trekking, a field once dominated by men. She eloquently shared how these women not only embraced the thrill of the mountains but also took on the role of mentors, training and guiding aspiring trekkers, thereby redefining empowerment through adventure.
The meeting saw the presence of esteemed Zontians, including Vice Area Director Zontian Zaheda Khatun, District Treasurer Khadija Afzal, District Corresponding Secretary Zontian Aniza Choudhury and Immediate Past Governor Ztn. Shreejana Rana. Their participation added immense value, and their collective wisdom enriched the discussions, ensuring that every aspect of the meeting was insightful and inspiring.
