Z Clubs of Dhaka mark International Women’s Day with youth-led initiative

Members of the Z and Youth Clubs of Dhaka, Bangladesh, District 25 Area 2, marked International Women’s Day by highlighting youth voices and honoring the contributions of women in their community.

As part of the celebration, Zontian Nasreen Khan collaborated with Z and Youth Club members to produce a special video reflecting the ideas, perspectives and aspirations of young members for the future of Zonta and women’s empowerment. Watch the video here.

The clubs also organized a meaningful gathering with domestic workers from local slum communities, recognizing their resilience and the essential services they provide every day. These women work long hours cleaning homes, washing floors and maintaining household hygiene, often without public recognition.

During the event, participants presented the domestic workers with essential items including cleaning supplies, water buckets, hand gloves, dustbins, clothing and food as tokens of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

District 25 Governor Zareen Delawar delivered remarks highlighting the invaluable contributions of domestic workers and emphasizing the importance of recognizing and empowering women whose work often goes unseen.

In addition, Z and Youth Club member Farisha Islam of the Zonta Club of Dhaka I created a painting dedicated to domestic workers in honor of International Women’s Day. The artwork will be presented to Zonta International during the upcoming convention in Vancouver by Gov. Delawar.
