Zonta Club of Dallas honors outstanding members

The Zonta Club of Dallas, USA, recently hosted a special club meeting recognizing members for their service, advocacy and leadership contributions. During the meeting, Club President Paige Kendrick presented Membership Awards to several members for their outstanding dedication to the club and its mission.

Lisamarie Williams received awards for Outstanding Advocacy Project for “16 Days of Activism – Zonta Says NO” and Outstanding Board Member. Barby Turner Crabtree was recognized for more than 20 years of membership, while Maryann Maddox was honored for more than 25 years of Zonta membership. Additional awards were presented to Terri Hornberger for Outstanding Chair and Outstanding Programs, Cynthia Rutledge for Outstanding New Member, Wanda Akin Ferraro for Outstanding Member and Alicia Burroughs for the President’s Award. The club also installed its new 2026-2028 Board during the celebration.

Dallas advocacates for ERA

On 26 March, the Zonta Club of Dallas also welcomed the historic 1926 Golden Saxon automobile and its drivers to Dallas as part of a cross-country advocacy journey promoting women’s rights and equality. The trip commemorates a similar 1918 journey made by women advocating for the right to vote. The club hosted the group at the Fretz Park Library, where community members gathered to hear stories from the travelers about their journey across the United States. Club members shared Texas hospitality with the visitors as they continued their nationwide trek advocating for women and equal rights.

Dallas flies high with Amelia Earhart banquet

The club also hosted its Amelia Earhart Luncheon, themed “Dream. Discover. Do.,” featuring an inspiring panel of women leaders in STEM fields. Panelists shared stories of leadership, innovation and perseverance with young women attending the event, encouraging them to pursue ambitious goals and explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The event was chaired by Alicia Burroughs, with support from club members who contributed their time and talents. Helena L. Banks served as moderator for the panel discussion featuring Sanjana Arulkumaran, Betty Medina and Rachel Kuhr Conn.
