Zonta Club of Colombo I supports health education and fundraising initiatives

The Zonta Club of Colombo I, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with their Golden Z club, recently strengthened its commitment to women’s health and community service through successful fundraising and health education efforts.

As part of its ongoing advocacy, the club conducted a health education session during the “Wassana Diyawara” annual health camp at Ikkapallama Junior School in Tissamaharama. Organized in collaboration with the Buddhist Society of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, the session focused on critical topics such as breast self-examination, cervical cancer awareness, family planning methods and menstrual hygiene. The initiative also included the donation and proper disposal of sanitary napkins at the faculty’s gym and obstetrics clinic, with support from the Zonta club.

In parallel, the club organized two fundraising events—one during the Faculty Carols Day and another at the congress opening ceremony—to raise support for its advocacy and service projects.
