Zonta Club of Makati and Environs boosts youth empowerment
The Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, Philippines, recently advanced its mission of youth empowerment with two key initiatives in education and advocacy.
On 23 May, the club formalized a partnership with the University of Makati to establish a Golden Z Club on campus, aimed at developing young leaders committed to gender equality. The agreement was sealed in a meeting with university officials, including Proffesor Michael Alviar, who will serve as club adviser, and Mr. Bernard Pagulayan of the Center for Student Organizations.
Club President Joanne Zapanta-Andrada, President-elect Marcy Kohchet-Chua, Golden Z Chair Maritoni Rufino-Tordesillas and member Jocel Labrador led the club’s delegation. Jocel will help guide the club’s launch, contributing her global HR expertise.
On 9 June, the Zonta club held its annual Brigada Ezkuwela outreach at the Don Bosco Youth Center in Tondo, distributing school supplies to 300 underprivileged students from four barangays. Led by Service Committee Head Vikki Yu and Project Chair Teresa Tan, this initiative was made possible through the generous donations of the club members, who remain steadfast in their commitment to community upliftment and education-focused service.
“Every child deserves access to quality education, and we are honored to play a part in helping them take steps toward a brighter future” said Project Chair Teresa.
