The Zonta Club of Aparri, Philippines, participated in the National Women’s Month Celebration in partnership with the local government, bringing together community leaders, advocates and residents to promote women’s empowerment and equality.
The event was supported by Aparri Mayor Dominador J. Dayag, along with local officials and women leaders, including Sangguniang Bayan members Dian Jaycerette Dayag and Julie Ann Alameda, Liga ng mga Barangay President Evelyn Albanio and barangay representatives.
A key highlight of the program was a presentation by Atty. Gizle M. Delacruz on Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, which emphasized women’s rights, protection and available legal support.
The celebration also featured booths and activities from participating agencies showcasing programs and services aimed at supporting women in the community.
As part of its contribution, the Zonta Club of Aparri led a livelihood booth that included a hands-on condiment-making workshop facilitated by Criselda Alzaga, a local business owner. The session provided participants with practical skills to support income generation and sustainable livelihoods.
Organizers said the initiative reflects a continued commitment to empowering women through education, advocacy and economic opportunity.
