8 women for 8th of March
On 6 March, the Zonta Club of Saint Sofia, Bulgaria, and the Zonta Club of Sofia, Bulgaria, co-hosted the third edition of "8 Women for 8th of March," an event honoring International Women’s Day. Held in the welcoming setting of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Sofia, the celebration highlighted the voices and achievements of eight remarkable women who shared their stories of resilience, strength and impact.
This year’s honorees—Bilyana Savova, Viktoriya Beshliyska, Daniela Dineva, Desislava Dobreva, Ekaterina Stratieva, Irina Tencheva, Maria Statulova and Paraskeva Dzhukelova—captivated attendees with personal reflections that celebrated women’s power and perseverance. A special guest, Doruntina Jakubi from the Republic of Kosovo, added further meaning and emotion to the evening, reinforcing the cross-border solidarity of women’s advocacy.
The event also supported a philanthropic cause, raising donations for Yanika – Educational Center for Hearing Impaired Children. The Zonta clubs expressed gratitude to their event partners, including NUXE and numerous donors, for their contributions.
Students from the National School of Fine Arts "Iliya Petrov"—including Albitsia Zhelyazkova, Nevena Lazarova, Kalina Stefanova, Neda Zabova, Yana Ivanova, Vasilena Gospodinova, Ester Yontova and Tsvetozar Aleksandrov—donated original artwork to support the cause. Their pieces impressed guests and played a key role in the success of the evening.
Special recognition was also given to event host Mariyana Arsenova, as well as pianists Anna and Alina, whose music added to the evening’s warm and inspiring atmosphere.
The Zonta clubs reaffirmed their commitment to empowering women and fostering change, continuing their work to build a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
