Showing love to imprisoned women through career-training workshops

The Zonta Club of Bangkok II, Thailand, partnered with the Association of Community Development for Women Leaders, Ranong, Thailand (South) to train women prisoners in a professional career after they are released.

With a US$5,000 grant from Zonta International, the Native Embroidery Fabric Training Project of Ranong Province hosted four weeklong trainings for a total of 220 women. They were taught how to embroider, which will give them a chance to earn an income and have a better life when they return home.

Because of COVID-19 protocols, the training activity was adjusted to meet social distancing requirements and the training period was extended. The program was successful, with 90% of participants satisfied. In addition, 10 participants are eligible to become trainers for future workshops.
