How We Advocate

United Nations Partners

Zonta International extends its impact by partnering with established organizations that share our commitment to empowering women and girls worldwide. For the 2024-2026 Biennium, Zonta is collaborating with UNICEF, UNICEF USA and UNFPA for our three international service projects. These projects focus on Zonta's four core causes of ending gender-based violence, addressing climate justice, ensuring education equality and promoting women in decision-making.

Zonta International and UNFPA

Since first partnering with the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA in 2004, Zonta International has come closer to achieving its mission and goals throughout the world. UNFPA’s objectives include delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Addressing the issues of child marriage, gender-based violence and climate change –all essential to achieving these objectives–are equally important to Zonta. To date, Zonta International has provided nearly US$8.65 million to UNFPA to support projects in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Liberia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia.

Zonta International and UNICEF USA

Zonta International’s partnership with  UNICEF USA began more than 50 years ago with six mobile medical units in Ghana. It was one of Zonta’s earliest international service projects and the first time Zonta and UNICEF USA came together to help women and children in need. Zonta International’s support for UNICEF USA and its efforts to improve the lives of mothers and children globally has only continued to grow since that first project in Ghana. To date, Zonta International has provided nearly US$16.8 million to UNICEF USA to support projects in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Columbia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia.
