Zonta Club of Colombo III celebrates the elderly and fellow Zontians on Rose Day

Sri Lankan culture stresses that the elderly live with their extended families, basking in the love and care of their family members while participating in their families' day-to-day activities. However, due to many social and economic issues, more and more elders are confined to elders' homes, and the rising number of senior citizens in the country has demanded more such facilities to accommodate the rising senior population in the country.

Realizing this issue, the Zonta Club of Colombo III visited the Sarvodaya Suwasetha Home for the elderly ladies and spent quality time with the less fortunate elderly ladies. The day was filled with interacting, talking, singing and dancing, and the elderly ladies enjoyed a fun evening of karaoke and abundant love from the club. The experience was indeed rewarding for the residents of the home as well as the Zontians.

The club also donated provisions to the ladies' homes. The elderly were grateful to the club for visiting and entertaining them, as they were confined to their homes with few visitors.

The club celebrated Rose Day by honoring its members with fellowship and recognizing their service and contribution to club activities. The Zonta Spirit was held high on an evening of fun and bonding among members.
